PrintRECIPE: Basil Gimlet
Description
This is one of the easiest drinks to make and super refreshing. I have not come across one person who did not love it. You need a mixing glass or shaker to make.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup*
- 6 fresh basil leaves
- 2 ounces gin
Instructions
In a mixing glass or shaker, combine the lime juice, simple syrup, basil and gin. Muddle (gently mash) the basil leaves slightly to release flavor. Fill at least halfway with ice and shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds, until very well chilled. Double strain using a small strainer into a martini or coupe glass. (The second fine-mesh strainer will help capture any stray bits of basil.) Place an additional basil leaf on top for garnish.
Notes
*To Make Simple Syrup: Mix 1 cup of raw sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Boil for a minute until sugar is dissolved. Cool, and store in a mason jar in the fridge for up to 8 weeks.
